Nike Hyperdunk 2016 Verdict High Review – Nike’s Compensation
Disappointment is a rather gentle word for what Nike brought to fans in last year’s Hyperdunk. The shoe body is not only made of a super hard fuse, but is also confusingly tall. Zoom – the shoe’s supposed brightest point is disappointing as the Phylon foam is too hard and thin (the same situation is repeated this year with Soldier X). Fortunately, Nike responded to the fans’ expectations by fixing most of those weaknesses with the 2016 Hyperdunk release.
1. Material (Material / design)
Instead of using Fuse for the entire upper, Nike designed a screen mesh over the soft fabric of the shoe and toe. This material is quite soft and flexible but does not stretch. The reed from the mesh fabric is connected to the body to form the inner sock layer for the shoe. The inside of the tongue is fully exposed with the Flywire cabling. The toe is covered with a rubber layer to protect from friction with the court surface. All is reinforced by soft Fuse heat-press material on the edge of the mesh layer.
In recent years, Nike and Jordan have barely changed the foam padding materials, but only tweaked the hardness for each shoe. Hyperdunk 2016 still uses a fairly solid Phylon foam, but not as stiff as the 2015. In addition, the foot cushion is supported by two standard Zoom pockets on the nose and heels. The outsole uses a straight-line pattern that closely resembles the Nike Kyrie 2.
2. Traction (grip)
Hyperdunk 2016 uses completely blade traction to cover all movement directions. The spacing between the cleats is very reasonable, giving the shoe a stable grip even on dusty surfaces. In optimal conditions, HD 2016 clings no less than the traditional zig-zag base. Paul George also fell once at the Olympics due to Hyperdunk 2016 too clingy. In return, the rubber material used is quite soft, so this is not a good outdoor court.
3. Comfort & Fit (Smoothness, embrace)
Hyperdunk 2016 fit is very correct, but the width is a bit narrow, so you can move up half the size if you want. EACHSHOES still advises you to buy the right size and go for a while for the shoes to relax a little. The soft material of the inside and thick lining creates a comfortable feeling to enter. The asymmetrical wiring and Flywire cables hug the foot very tightly. The thick foam of the collar and heels gives you a smooth feeling and the lock-down is very firm.
In addition, the heel of the HD 2016 is just on par with a pair of mids and is quite soft, so you will not get stuck or slip your heels when you swing. Overall, Hyperdunk 2016 does not look very neat but extremely hugging legs and is not uncomfortable in the ankles and heels like the 2015 version.
Hyperdunk 2016 is “cut” a part of Phylon under the Zoom bag with the aim of creating “trampoline effect” for riders. Nike explains that this arrangement helps the Zoom bag to immediately bounce back, increasing the bounce, reactivity of the buffer. However, this argument is also quite gaping that EACHSHOES will take advantage of the explanation in another article. You can understand that this hollow opening makes the Phylon layer easier to compress and makes the Zoom bag feel easier.
Two Zoom pockets are large enough to help you bounce back quickly after a run or rebound. The Phylon section also does a good job at damping and making the shoe smoother in every step. To sum up, the foot cushioning of Hyperdunk 2016 is extremely good, although the Phylon layer still needs a break-in for a while.
5. Stability / Support / Containment
Support is the reason why Hyperdunk has been a stable and popular shoe since the 2008 first release (Except for the 2009 Hyperize version). The HD series has always been at the forefront of the use of heel pads, lightweight yet sturdy upper material, using midsole to cover the foot. The 2016 version is no exception with all the above features. The high heel design and a heel block inside the shoe body ensure your feet are held tight at all times. The rounded outsole provides added flexibility, but the inside is still very flat and stable.
The design of the midsole over the upper must be an indispensable standard for modern shoes. The new materials offer light weight, durability and properties that skin cannot match. In return, they are quite weak when not reinforced and cause a feeling of looser when changing directions (Soldier X, Melo M12). Hyperdunk 2016 Phylon outsole forms a sturdy frame that provides support and covers over the foot. However, you need to play a few games to make the cushion soft as you like.
The hi-neck design of the Hi version also contributes to a sense of peace of mind for players who play inside. The two wings at the collar are not connected to the body to ensure your ankle is properly covered without sacrificing ankle flexibility.
6. Nike Hyperdunk 2016 – Conclusion:
Stable, definitely the first two words used to refer to Hyperdunk 2016. All the other sides are not too prominent, but they do well. Hyperdunk 2016 Hi suitable for players in all positions, especially big men who hit under the basket. If you need a little more flexibility, you should choose the Low version with a similar design. $ 140 is a reasonable price for the 2016 HD but you can always wait for them to come out, discount to get a better price.
