Before 2012, Off-White was almost unknown. But after the huge success with Nike, Off-White has entered a new level. For collabs between Off-White and another brand, products are sold out in seconds. Currently, Off-White is the most streetwear hype company in the world. More than that, hype is also judged by whether fans are waiting for a certain version or not?

Is Hype good?

So in your opinion, is Hype a real need for streetwear firms? The obvious answer is have. Rather, hype is the lifestyle of a streetwear firm. The more people are interested in collection or shoes, the streetwear will sell the revenue. Take adidas as an example. After many years behind Nike in every way, in 2013, adidas decided to sign with Kanye West. With the birth of Yeezy, adidas regained the streetwear throne. At that time, Yeezy was the most hunted shoe in the world. With extremely high resell price, you can understand the hype level of this product line. Everyone must be down, after years of reign, Yeezy’s hype is now significantly reduced. Since Kanye West wanted everyone to be able to own this line of shoes, adidas released in much greater numbers than in previous years.

So hype is that really good? True and not true. It is true that hype will help streetwear brands become more and more famous and known by many people. But for the fans, the hype is not good at all. Let’s say you like a certain shoe, but it’s very hype. The resellers will go “the back line” to buy and sell to people like you at extremely high prices. It is not fair, right?
