2012 marked a big leap for Nike Basketball when it decided to launch the Elite shoe line for Lebron, Kobe, KD at towering prices. You will have to spend about $ 80 more than the regular version to experience more advanced materials in the Elite version. However, this annual upgrade is not always very effective when the quality does not keep up with the price. Until last year, Nike did something unprecedented when it launched Lebron XIII Elite at regular prices. In addition, instead of upgrading the material by adding more, Nike completely changed the upper material. It can be said that Lebron XIII Elite is more like a PS version than Elite, but is its performance “elite”?

first. Material (Material / design)

The background of Lebron XIII Elite is similar to the regular version with monolithic design inner bootie and Flywire. But instead of being reinforced by Fuse and Posite, Nike uses a soft rubber shell called Kurim. This material is quite similar to the Clutchfit of Under Armor or upper of Curry 2.5 to help increase the reliability while still maintaining the toughness and low weight. The upper edge is also reinforced with a very thin layer of fuse. A few small details such as the toe of the shoe and the edge of the reed are covered with luxurious leather. In addition, instead of hiding a part of the wire under the Posite layer, Lebron XIII Elite uses the traditional wire design to help you avoid breaking the wire like in XIII normal.

The midsole part of the 13 Elite remains the same but has an additional carbon fiber padding up quite high on the outside of the shoe. The other side is only supported by a layer of Phylon. Outsole of the two versions is completely similar in design with 6 convex Zoom pockets. In addition, Nike also enlisted in adding Zoom to the two top tabs of the sole. All material changes make the Lebron XIII Elite much thinner and lighter than the original version.

2. Traction (grip)

Traction of the two XIII versions is similar, enough to cling to all surfaces thanks to the striated design of the Zoom tabs. The use of clear rubber also does not make the sole of the shoe dust easier thanks to the large distance between the cleats. At the same time, small tabs are also arranged to cover all the omnidirectional movements of the pedestrian.

3. Comfort & Fit (Smoothness, embrace)

Lebron XIII Elite fit is similar to previous versions, but those with narrow legs and width should buy half the size. Due to the seamless design, if your feet do not fit into the shoe, the excess material will prevent the shoe from hugging your feet tightly enough. Wearing two socks is also a workaround, but with this type of shoe you should choose the correct size to wear comfortably.

Thanks to the complete change of upper material, the Elite version can hug your legs more comfortably. Kurim material is less stretchy but still flexible enough to follow the movements of the foot. Lebron XIII Elite’s overall feel also felt more natural thanks to the removal of layers of fuse and Posite. However, if you are familiar with the minimalist design of the Crazylight, Curry or Kobe lines, it will be difficult to please. In addition, Nike also uses thick ankle padding and Ortholite lining for added smoothness.

4. Cushioning

Equipping two additional Zoom bags in the nose does not affect the overall performance of the buffer much because their volume is too small. Your feet will still be protected by rebound from two Zoom pads in the nose and heels. The large thickness and thin foam make it easy to compress two Zoom bags for a responsive and quiet effect on the shoe. In return, the convex sole design can make you feel not as smooth as a traditional shoe.

5. Stability / Support / Containment (Stability / Strength / Alkalinity)

Lighter weight but extremely wide base base and outrigger edge help Lebron XIII Elite stay stable in all situations. In addition, the midsole has been trimmed thin, making the center of the shoe a little lower than the ground. The most obvious minus point is the heel, due to the thick Zoom is placed at the bottom (bottom-load) and protruding, but the heel is slightly attached. If you need balance and stability all the time then you can ignore this pair.

Even when the material is minimized compared to the regular version, the texture of the Elite pair is not inferior, especially in the soles of the feet. The back of the carbon fiber gives a great value to the shoe as it is highly sturdy while still remaining light. In addition, in the Phylon layer is also equipped with a metal piece in the center of the foot for added reinforcement. The Phylon cushion is also raised to allow the foot to fit neatly inside of the midsole. Finally, the mesh made of Kurim rubber helps the upper maintain the shape and helps to minimize the foot slipping while moving.

Containment of XIII Elite is much better than the same weight (Lebron XIII Elite is even lighter than Crazylight Boost 2015).

6. Nike Lebron XIII Elite – Conclusion:

Lebron XIII Elite is a big surprise for fans when Nike has upgraded quite a lot but still has the same price. With almost super light weight but no less ruggedness or cushioning, the Lebron XIII Elite is a more worthy choice than the regular version. However, the shoes do not feel light and are still quite bulky compared to other shoes of the same weight. XIII Elite is suitable for heavy-weight defenders, midfielders and big men who need high certainty but can withstand the lack of flexibility of the sole. Especially if you have wide and wide feet, it will suit the design of XIII Elite.

The $ 200 price tag is still a bit too high compared to the ground, but what the Lebron 13 Elite brings is very worthy of its title “elite”. The price of this version currently ranges from $ 160 to $ 180 in the US market.
