In recent years, Lebron James has shown that he is the NBA’s brightest player, consistently in the NBA final. Especially last year when he led the Cleveland Cavaliers through the Golden State Warriors after being 3-1 in the Finals. Plus, Nike has made good use of this lucrative prey as well. It is known that the recent lifetime contract of Nike and Lebron James is worth more than 1 billion USD. The price of a Lebron shoe also gradually increased from $ 140 (Lebron VI) to $ 180 at Lebron X and touched $ 200 in two recent versions. At such a price point, what kind of performance does Lebron XIII have? Here is a review article sent by EACHSHOES to readers to have a better overview of Nike Lebron XIII.

first. Material (Material / design)

The upper part of Lebron XIII is constructed from the inner bootie base (transparent sock), Flywire cable then a layer of Fuse and Posite between the feet (mid-foot) and the sides of the ankles. All above materials are covered with a mesh fabric (Except 3 pieces of Posite). This design makes the inside of the shoe still smooth while ensuring high reliability. In addition, the inside of the toe is also reinforced by heat-pressed material (Fuse).

Lebron 13’s Midsole is made from standard Nike Phylon foam. Phylon layer covers the upper on the toes and midfoot sides as well as behind the heels. There is also a piece of hard plastic placed under the soles of the feet with a diamond pattern.

The Lebron XIII Outsole is still quite similar to its predecessor with separate Zoom pockets protruding at the nose (except for the first 2 tabs) and heels. Specifically, the 2 thickest pieces (13 mm) are placed in the toe pads and heels. Most outsoles use a diamond pattern similar to the midfoot, but this section has very little contact with the floor due to the protrusion of the base in the position of the Zoom pockets. At each protruding tab, use a straight cleats quite simply (except for the two largest pieces that cover 2 different angles). The animation in the Mini Zoom bags almost forms a border around the largest Zoom bag at the nose.

2. Traction (grip)

Except for the sole that has quite a good coverage when you touch the floor at a difficult angle, most of the time the grip will depend on the small grips on the soleplate. Fortunately, changing the cleat from the star pattern of Lebron XII to the straight line at Lebron XIII is much better. Straight line motifs coordinate with the regular hexagonal shape of the tabs themselves provide stable multidirectional grip in most types of pitch. At the same time, the color schemes using clear rubber still have the same grip as normal rubber. The durability of the sole is also quite good, just enough for you to use it in the outdoor yard. Instead, gluing the backup base is a bit difficult due to the convex design of the sole.

snkrvn-lebron-xiii-8The simplification of the cleat creates the Lebron version with the best grip in recent years.

3. Comfort & Fit (Smoothness, embrace)

Similar to KD 9, Lebron XIII will be quite difficult to enter due to the sock design and high neck. At the same time when entering, the Fuse and Posite material of the shoe made the overall look quite stiff when I first walked. Most of these feelings go away after a while as the shoes embrace more and the materials loosen.

In return, after breaking in, Lebron XIII has much better performance and leg hug. The asymmetric wiring system is used to strengthen the fit but easy to slip off, so you should reverse the knot or tie twice to keep the rope firmly while walking. Although the thick nose is a bit long, but Lebron XIII still fits the right size (size XII), you can buy half the size, but be wary of hard material parts that may need to be on the legs. Overall, the shoe hugging foot is very solid thanks to the sock design and solid materials.

4. Cushioning

As mentioned at the beginning, Lebron XIII is equipped with midsole made from Phylon with four hexagonal Zoom pockets hidden in tabs in the base. The number of noses is reduced by 1 while increasing the area and distance. This makes the nose not really smooth as in Lebron XII when the tabs are close together and occupy more area. But instead, the overall shoe moves more naturally because the rims are placed according to the texture of the foot (quite similar to FYW and the original adidas PureMotion).

The increased volume of the Zoom bag makes a big difference to the Lebron XIII’s buffer as the two pockets are easily felt on the nose and heel cushion. Zoom’s bounce, sensitivity and natural arrangement of the tabs made Lebron XIII improve the weaknesses of XII. The reduction of the Posite also makes the Phylon layer easier to compress and feel softer in every step.

5. Stability / Support / Containment (Stability / Strength / Alkalinity)

Lebron’s stability is not equal to other shoes due to the convex design of the sole but in return the width of the outsole has been increased significantly compared to Lebron XII. The edge of the base is made quite clear to avoid flipping to help you feel more secure when moving. However, the heel is still a bit soft due to the Zoom bag to compensate for the cushioning part.

Lebron XIII is quite solid compared to the shoes of the past year due to the large amount of Fuse and Posite used. However, the Posite pieces especially on the outside of the ankle are not too stiff, making the upper part still have certain elasticity. The wings of the collar are raised very high and the heel is cut low to protect the ankle and maintain flexibility. At the same time, the Phylon layer forms a very stable and firm foundation. Overall, Lebron XIII’s support is very good to compensate for the hardness of the material.

The alkalinity (containment) is absolutely nothing to mention due to the large amount of Fuse used around the toes and the midsole completely covering the soles of the feet. Lebron is much stronger than shoes using mesh fabric like Melo M12, J.Crossover 3 or knit, weave like Jordan XX9, Crazylight Boost 2015.

6. Nike Lebron XIII – Conclusion:

Lebron XIII is a big step up from XII: lighter, softer, more bouncy, more stable. You may not like these shoes at first, but after the break-in, Lebron 13 will bring a different feeling. Nike used most of the old technologies more efficiently while also defining the right path for the Lebron line. Players in every position can satisfy with Lebron XIII and especially those who need high certainty.

The most obvious weakness of the Lebron XIII (or the Lebron line in general) is that the price remains quite high at $ 200 to $ 220. Right now, the post-discount price is around $ 160, but it’s not really worth the money when there are better options at cheaper prices. If you do not mind the price and appearance of Lebron XIII, this is still one of the top shoes of last year with Lebron XIII Elite. EACHSHOES I will write an article about the Elite version soon. Any comments or thoughts you have about the article and Lebron XIII please comment immediately to EACHSHOES know.
