After its debut in 2013, the adidas BOOST has been, and will continue to be, an extremely powerful weapon that adidas uses to regain market share of its lost sneakers. The truth is that BOOST itself has stolen a lot of Nike’s loyal fans with products like UltraBOOST and NMD, contributing to the performance of adidas over the past 24 months, and recently an 85% increase in Q1 sales. this year, while Nike has to accept the opposite.

Of course, Nike does not accept adidas to calmly take the throne. Earlier in 2017, Nike introduced a new buffer with a name ZoomX. Developed in 2013 and tested on a few athletes at the 2016 Rio Olympics, ZoomX is announced to have an 85% improvement in elasticity, a determining factor for a successful buffer.

In addition, experts believe that ZoomX will perform better than BOOST when applied in practice. Typically, with the ZoomX VaporFly Elite version, the shoes use an upper Flyknit, a sock collar, ZoomX cushioning and a special swoosh design that extends down to the midsole. It’s easy to see that Nike’s new cushioning is incredibly thick. Up to 2 layers of ZoomX sandwiched between a piece of hard carbon not only help reduce the impact of gravity on the soles of the feet, but also help increase elasticity of the shoe.

No further information from Nike is currently available, but the Nike ZoomX VaporFly 4%, a version using the ZoomX with a mesh upper will be released on June 8. Let’s wait and see if Nike ZoomX can compete with adidas BOOST.
