Adidas D.Rose 8 detailed review

Since the 7th edition adidas’ Rose shoe line has received almost no marketing from the company except for Derrick Rose’s tours in China. If the Rose 7 is among adidas flagship shoes, would the Rose 8 also with Boost cushioning be worthy of standing next to its big brother?

I. Design, Material

Eliminated whether engineered mesh fabric, Primeknit or very smooth Geofit, the Rose 8 is fitted with adidas upper made of… fuse and mesh. Extremely popular material from … 10 years ago gives an unfriendly appearance to a high-end shoe. At $ 160, most of us probably want something more luxurious. However, adidas is also available in several other color schemes that use almost knit cotton.

The first plus of this mesh and fuse material is that it is light and has lots of air vents. Another plus point is that the wiring system is designed in a curved line, a good way to increase leg hugging. What about the minus point? The piercing is the part of a string that runs around the reed, which looks a bit fragile.

The “new” Boost cushion is borrowed from Crazylight Boost 2016, which is also the thickest of the pre-Harden 2 adidas’ Boosts. The “zipper” looks quite impressive, thicker and much stiffer than the Rose 7.

Evaluate:

  • Half size wide, nose longer than Rose 7
  • Not as wide as Rose 9 =)
  • Heel fit is still good, thick padding, solid heels
  • The heels are higher than the previous Rose versions

Fuse and mesh are not used anymore partly because they are out of date and not luxurious. It can be said that the image of a shoe made of plastic with perforated details is not… very noble. But surely any shoe fan must admit that fuse provides hugging with extremely light weight and Rose 8 is no exception. The fuse layer is used in the right place, not brittle or needles.

The “fragile” shoelaces when tightened also bring a firm tightness on the instep and ankle. The only excess is around the toe area. During the test, I can still play comfortably at maximum speed because the midfoot and heels, ankles are still perfectly tied. Compared to Rose 7 of the same size, Rose 8 is a bit longer, but it doesn’t make me wear 2 socks like Rose 9.

If you ever have a pair of Rose 7s, buy them half the size or the same size and wear thick socks like me. The Rose 8’s thinner material probably gives the shoe more room, but Rose 8 is still extremely hugging.

III. Adhesion

Evaluate:

  • Good grip on most of the pitch
  • Better durability than Rose 7

For the first time since the 3rd release, adidas has used a different type of herringbone sole for the Derrick Rose line (except Rose 5 uses wavebone, but it’s the same). Rose 8’s base has a wide coverage and is very hard making it suitable for outdoor courts. In fact, I mainly tested on PKKQ, a hard cement surface painted and Rose 8 did not perform badly.

With the design of Rose 8, you should still bring out the outdoor for a few days so that it can stick to the wood yard best. These shoes also do not bring a creaking sound on the wooden floor and the brakes are also a bit “slow” than the old version a bit.

Overall, the Rose 8 is the most durable Rose ever, and is still more clingy than the Rose 9.

IV. Buffer / Cushioning

Evaluate:

  • Boost
  • This boost is thick
  • It’s over

Taking the entire buffer from Crazylight Boost 2016, one of the most successful shoes of the 2016-2017 season, Rose 8 is considered to have eaten max points in this category.

If the Crazy Explosive mattress is thin but bouncing, the Rose 7 mattress is thin, the heels are thick, the Harden 1 cushion is thin and comprehensive, and the Harden 2 is full, the Crazylight Boost 2016 is extremely balanced. The whole base is stretched, smooth from nose to heel with top-notch damping capability.

Saying that is a bit too long.

V. Support

Evaluate:

  • Flat, wide base
  • Material fuse
  • Containment extremely good

Except when tying shoes too thin makes me feel a bit slippery because Rose 8 feet is a bit wide, the support is a very strong point of these shoes. The reinforced fuse layers in the nose and heels, high neck, foot hug bring a sense of security.

Rose 8 also carries a soles foot support from Crazylight Boost 2016, plus a sturdy roll cage and wraps over the toe. The Rose 8 is a true tanker without being too heavy or too entangled.

BECAUSE. Conclusion – adidas Rose 8

Pros:

  • Fit well, but pay attention to choose the size
  • Half size wide
  • Smooth Boost cushion
  • Sure, lightweight
  • Outdoor is much better than Rose 7

Cons:

  • Not clingy like the old versions
  • Look a bit “back”

The Rose 8 is a very well balanced shoe, suitable for any position as long as you like boots.

Almost like a falling child, the adidas Rose 8 is not covered by adidas and is well taken care of by the community. But the material and design are still quite standard enough to let Rose 8 enter the top shoes worth owning last season.

The price of Rose 8 is actually quite high, currently priced at around 2500k or more for cheap color schemes.
