first. Material

The material that Jordan XXXI uses is a combination of synthetic leather on the heel and on the ankle Flyweave mid-foot to toe shoe. The tongue is also favored with a leather piece bearing the Air Jordan logo and the words “Banned” in the X on the back. Inside the shoe collar is a high-grade foam layer made higher than the leather at the heel. According to the drawings, the leather on the ankle, in addition to being inspired by the Jordan I, acts as an ankle band to help strengthen the area.

To reinforce Flyweave (a performance woven fabric from XX9), Jordan arranged Flywire form cables instead of flat tapes, as in XX9 and XXX. Except for the heel, the upper of the XXXI is quite similar to the previous two versions, but Flywire is lighter, the certainty can be reduced a bit. Follow Weartesters then the upper of Jordan XXXI will be like XX9 ie softer and more flexible than XXX but will not be sure.

The sole is a very simple design of Phylon padding around the Zoom and a thin foam layer (black in the photo above) to help secure the shoe body. Under the outsole there is a small anti-roll outrigger bezel and the Air Jordan logo in the middle and can also be a fixed piece (midfoot shank), otherwise the base mold is very comfortable rounded on the surface. The Zoom pocket at the heel and nose is convex (a feature of Flightspeed technology). Of course, the name “Banned” is indispensable, imprinted after the impressive rubber part.

2. Traction (grip)

SNKRVN Jordan 31 (14)Could this be called herringbone?

XXXI’s Outsole is not much different from XXX. Although called herringbone, these are diamonds inspired by gecko feet, helping to optimize multidirectional grip. There is no denying that XXXI’s grip is promising but it is still possible that the outsole will get dusty on non-standard court surfaces and need to be wiped off after a certain amount of time.

3. Comfort & Fit (Smoothness, ability to hold feet)

The inside of Jordan XXXI is a plus point due to the inheritance of the material Flyweave and lining Ortholite dedicated. The collar is made of a sufficiently thick foam around the ankle to increase smoothness and add grip to both the ankle and heel from slipping. Certainly, XXXI will not disappoint fans about this interval unless your feet do not fit the shoe (too wide, too narrow, etc.).

4. Cushioning

SNKRVN Jordan 31 (3)

Midsole is the part with the most changes due to the appearance of the full-length Zoom combined with Flightspeed (or Flightplate). Flightspeed is basically a piece of metal placed above the Zoom bag at the nose about 2/3 of the shoe length, while also removing the foam right above it.

You can imagine that Jordan gouged out the midsole in the shape of a Zoom bag and placed it in it instead of making the Zoom bag hard on the inside or on one side of the foam. A special feature when it comes to Flightspeed is the outsole that will bulge a small space in the shape of a Zoom bag.

These two details will make the Zoom on the foot cushion first contact the ground every time you run, jump, and compress it to the maximum extent to increase bounce intensity. The result is a highly sensitive buffer. The Zoom bag will reach its maximum due to the shorter the distance from the foot to the ground from the removal of the foam in the middle, optimizing the Zoom bag.

However, this brings a big disadvantage for Unlocked Zoom precisely because of its poor durability, it is easy to poke Zoom bags. The durability problem was partially solved by Jordan by reducing the convexity of the outsole under the Zoom bag and the use of full-length Zoom caused the pressure to no longer concentrate on the nose alone.

Overall, cushioning won’t be a problem for the Jordan XXXI, it could even be this year’s best Zoom Air shoe if it got past the Nike KD 9’s Max Zoom sole. At the same time thanks to full- length Zoom and instant sole, if you stomp on the heels, you will feel smoother while running.

5. Support, stability, containment

The certainty of Jordan XXXI will depend entirely on the ability to embrace the legs. The synthetic leather heel, the fixed ankle ridges and the thin midsole make your feet closer to the pitch and avoid slipping and flipping.

But in the trailer of the shoe and from other sources it can be seen that the toe area lacks solidity. Jordan has done away with raising the midsole ledge and reinforcing the outer toe area and toe area. Apparently the company did not reinforce any material inside the class Flyweave capital is too soft and flexible. Whether the part Flywire still covers the area near the toes but most likely won’t be enough for high-speed sideways movements. In addition, there is no image of a fixed center piece like the Carbon Fiber part as in XX9.

6. Jordan XXXI – Conclusion

It can be seen from Jordan XXXI’s latest blueprints and images that this is a very promising shoe especially as the price of the shoe line is reduced below $ 200 while still using the latest technology. by Jordan Brand. Currently, the Jordan XXXI will be officially launched on September 3 in the “Banned” color scheme at the same time as the Air Jordan 1 Retro.

And as a commemoration of the Air Jordan 1’s debut in 1985, the price of the Jordan XXXI stopped at $ 185 instead of above $ 200 as always.
