Detailed assessment Peak TP9 V

Coming back after the 4th very impressive version, Peak TP9 V still retains the strengths of the previous version and added some quite impressive details.

I. Design, Material

Peak Surface is still counted as the main material of the shoe but there are some basic differences. The entire nose to the mid-foot is surrounded by a thin and sturdy material. With each color scheme, this material changes a little, bringing more options for you. Accompanied by the heel is covered with mesh fabric gently. One thing I am still not sure is that in the end the Peak Surface is only somewhat on T_T shoes.

The TP9 V still uses the same 3/4 low neck design as before with a monocoque blade. The padding around the nose and heels is slightly thicker for added smoothness. You can also see clearly that this design of the TP9 V looks more harmonious with a lot of round details.

The two sides of the reed are a system of ice and a piercing. These tapes can be clearly seen if you turn the reed aside.

Part midsole with a material similar to Howard 2, TP9 IV but raised into 2 “wings” like Curry 3 on either heel. You can see the plastic P-Boom that presses from the outside of the heel and runs down to the bottom of the toe pad instead of the tenacity unit (new midfoot shank technology from Peak).

Finally the outsole is half opaque (again) but fragmented in P-Boom pieces instead of completely exposing the Dual Gradient layer in the midsole. The two rubbers also use different soles, one side is a wide-width herringbone, and the other is a sole that varies slightly from herringbone. There is also a circular rubber sheet right above the P-Boom, the position where the most pressure is when running as well as where the players use to rotate (pivot point).

Still with a simple but effective upper design, the fabric at the toe hugging foot is very neat. The fuse around the tongue also prevents the fabric from reaching the leg in motion. The heel is also quite solid, there is no slippage phenomenon.

With TP9 V, I still choose size 44 (11US) and this is still the best size for me. Please note that you should try first because the Peak size does not have an odd size, so it will be slightly different from Nike, adidas.

One point I do not like much in this section is that the ankle area is a bit stiff, not completely around, like TP9 IV or Howard 2. I often feel a little gap in the ankle but not lose safety. After the break-in period, this feeling is also better.

III. Adhesion

Evaluate:

• Adhesion is good on all surfaces but not yet excellent
• Durability is quite good

TP9 V’s herringbone texture is somewhat stylish compared to IV, so overall grip is not as stable. In return, the rubber material is quite sticky, so you will not worry about slipping on most of the yard surfaces in Vietnam. In addition, the rubber inside is a bit hard, so although it is more durable, it will not be as good against dust.

In terms of durability, the inner rubber is somewhat more durable due to the cleat structure. On the other hand, the rubber is actually the same because the “opaque” layer is just overlayed.

IV. Buffer / Cushioning

Evaluate:

• The nose is smooth, sure, quite bouncing
• Smooth, firm heels.
• The damping is quite good
• Smooth transition

There is almost no difference compared to TP9 IV because they both use the same midsole material: Gradient Dual at the nose and a dedicated foam coating. I like this foam very much because it is quite chewy and stretchy, very suitable for fast movements. There are two biggest differences between the IV and V versions:

First, the heel is indented (or up?) Similar to the Jordan XX9. It makes the shoe a little lighter while also compressing the heel a little more. In addition, it divides the heel section vertically in two, allowing your heels to return to their original position more quickly if flipped to the sides.

Second, P-Boom and Gradient Dual create an extremely gentle Unlocked Zoom effect on the nose. But just that makes the feeling of bounce very clear compared to other Peak products. If you’re someone who always plays with the nose and needs a little extra help then TP9 5 can please you.

V. Support

Evaluate:

Compared to TP9 IV, a very good support shoe among low-neck basketball shoes, TP9 V is even better. If the upper of the 4th version is still a bit thin, this version is definitely better. Next are two “wings” in the heel to help form another layer of protection. The P-Boom piece has changed the soles of the feet while protecting the heels and increasing the bounce in the nose. Finally, the concave heel section increases stability for the entire sole.

One thing I still don’t really like is that the TP9 V doesn’t really have a base edge. But overall, the nose is as wide as TP9 IV and Dame 4, just inferior to monsters like Rose 7 or Crazy Explosive.
